About Bronkode

A production-readiness specialist for the AI-code era

Bron means source. Bronkode exists to look at the source of AI-built software and give an honest answer to one question: can this system safely go live?

Who's behind Bronkode

Theunis Snyman

Software developer with 25 years' enterprise experience and 10 years of cloud architecture for local and international corporate clients.

I'm a software developer based in Pretoria. For 25 years I've built and run systems where mistakes cost real money: credit data, debt collection, call centres and, more recently, cloud platforms for corporate clients in Europe and the US.

I designed the security and architecture of VeriCred Credit Bureau, an NCR-registered credit bureau that hosts all its consumer credit data itself. It still runs on that design today.

For 14½ years I was a director of a software company, making the architecture decisions, reviewing the team's code and keeping systems running for paying customers. Today I still build on contract, so my skills are current.

For the past two years I've built with GitHub Copilot, Claude Code and other coding agents every day. They're remarkable, and they make the same mistakes over and over: trusting the browser, skipping checks, leaving secrets in the wrong place. I started Bronkode so founders who build with these tools can find those mistakes before their customers do. You know your industry. You know your customers. I help you know your technology.

What I bring to your review

  • Security that's been tested by reality: I've protected a credit bureau's data, which is far more sensitive than most apps will ever hold.
  • A founder's view: I've run a software business, so my advice weighs cost, time and risk, not just technical purity.
  • Years of code review: reviewing other people's code has been part of my job for most of my career; reviewing AI's code is the same discipline.
  • Daily hands-on AI development: I use the same tools you do, so my fixes come as prompts and rules your AI can follow.
  • Plain English: you'll understand every finding and why it matters to your business.

Why this niche

Tools like ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, Cursor and Lovable have made building software dramatically cheaper. Founders and businesses now ship in weeks what used to take a team months.

These tools are good at making software that works. They don't make sure it's secure, observable, recoverable or maintainable, and the people commissioning the software often can't tell the difference.

That gap between "working" and "production-ready" is where Bronkode operates.

Positioning

What we are, and what we're not

Not

A pentest firm

We don't attack your systems. We review code, configuration and practice across six pillars, of which security is only one.

Not

A dev shop

We don't sell development hours, so our findings aren't a sales pitch for a rebuild.

We are

Production-readiness specialists

Independent reviewers who ask whether software is deployable, supportable, maintainable and secure.

Values

How we work

Independent

Our only product is an honest assessment. We'll tell you when something is fine, too.

Plain English

Every finding explains the business impact as well as the technical detail.

Advisory

We give you a prioritised plan and the reasoning behind it. You stay in control of the decisions.

Our mission

Explain AI-built software in plain English, find what could hurt it, and give its builders and their AI tools the knowledge to fix it.

Our vision

To become South Africa's most trusted authority on production readiness for AI-built software, and to help everyone who builds with AI understand their technology well enough to launch with confidence.
